Howdy!

Always Greener
by VerreEncore

Hey ya'll I'm back! I was pretty sick up until about a week ago. Yes, sick, for like four months. Turns out that the past four months of hell had been caused by...

a wheat allergy!

Yes! A wheat allergy. I can no longer eat wheat. No more pizza, no more hamburgers, no more pasta... Well, not "no more." I can still have these things... I just have to substitute all the wheat in my diet for other grains.

Quite frankly, I'm incredulous that my change in diet has affected my health (for the better!) to this extent. No more inflamed sinuses, no more sneezing, itchiness, and runny nose, no more rash, no more angioedema, no more irritability!

So, for all of you suffering from allergies, consider the possibility that you may have a wheat allergy. Apparently this allergy is more common than we think.

The only problem with identifying a wheat allergy is that the symptoms of a wheat allergy are the same as the symptoms for every other allergy. Talk to your doctor if you think it's a possibility for you.

Common Symptoms of a wheat allergy:
Eczema
Hives (Uticaria)
Asthma
Angioedema
Hay Fever-like symptoms
Cramps

Less Frequent Symptoms
Nausea
Vomiting
Psoriasis
Sneezing
Cough
Running Nose
Watery Itchy Eyes
IBS
Swollen Throat or Tongue

It's great to feel good again! Have a happy Spring Fever everyone!

Luxlux is OPEN for business

Lovely vintage applique napkins
available at luxluxart

Okay, so most of you who know me, know that I have some skills as a serious artist. Most of you who know me also know that I have this strange habit of picking up pretty and interesting things that I generally have no use for.

I've decided to combine my love of art, and combing vintage shops into one great Etsy experience.

Behold, Luxluxart.etsy.com!

... introducing Bean!

World, meet Bean.

Bean, meet World.

I am happy to announce that I am the mother of a healthy, bouncing baby girl. Except she's not a really a baby, and she's not *really* a girl. She's an 11 year old cat. A very cute, and playful cat who loves belly rubs, and long naps by the radiator.

Simon, my rabbit, is now a proud (and less than thrilled) brother.

Hello Ladies and Gents!

I'm happy to say that I'm back in business, and I'm ready to swing into spring! Even though it's the dead of winter (February is always a killer in Canada), I feel happy, healthy, and optimistic!

For those of you who have been wondering where the heck I've been: I've been dealing with a really persistent winter bug that had me laid up completely for about a month. It took me another month to recover and begin to feel myself again. In all of that illness, I also relocated countries, and then relocated cities!

Whew! It's been work, I tell you!

I'm now living in Canada's largest and most exciting city, Toronto. I'm thrilled with my new apartment. After sharing a one room studio apartment in Korea, I am happy to say that my new Canadian apartment has 6 whole rooms. SIX! It's amazing... I can almost get lost in this place!

I am now lucky enough to have my own bright and spacious studio. Have a look:

See you back here soon!

PS. I think in my next post I'm going to give you all a sneek peek of my spring wedding line!

hey hey hey, it's my birthday!!!

It's true! It's my birthday... rather, WAS my birthday! My birthday was January 1st. Little known fact about me: I was the first baby born in the new year in my hometown. I'm now one year older, and 10 years wiser.

For some reason this birthday hit me hard. I feel that my age is at one of those numbers which calls us to reflect on our life and our ambitions. My birthday made me think of my past accomplishments, and forced me to seriously think about my goals for the future.

I've made a few resolutions for myself... not because it's the New Year, but because it's my birthday... a marker of change, rebirth, and growth. I'll let you in on my resolutions in my next post.

For now, I'm going to make a list of the things I wish my boyfriend had gotten me for my b-day. He's in the doghouse right now because he's actually out of the country. He MISSED my birthday... and Christmas. Can you believe it? Anyways, since he's in the doghouse he can easily soften my heart by procuring one of the following items:

Okay, so I made it back to Canada, safely, about 3 weeks ago. I spent several days in Toronto, then I came to my family home in Northern Ontario. After I got here, I came down with an irritating lung infection that won't let me sleep at night.

So... if you've been wondering where I've been, and why my shop has slowed down in listing new items, that's the scoop. I've been frustratingly ill.

I'm hoping that I will be better by the end of the week. When I feel better, my Etsy shop will explode with listings of all the new jewelry I've created.

In the middle of January I plan to launch my 'art & etc. shop', Luxlux. I've got some interesting items to list in my Luxlux shop, some of it vintage, and most of it handmade.

Take care during the winter season!!! I hope you are all happy and healthy, and that you enjoyed your holidays!!! :D

Well ya'll, I've made it home, safe and sound.

My plane ride home was fairly uneventful, up until I got to Vancouver. It turns out, Canada was having it's first big snowstorm of the winter season, and my flight was landing right in the middle of it.

The connecting flight out of Vancouver to Toronto was delayed by 5 hours... 2.5 of those five were spent sitting in the plane waiting to de-ice. Ugh. It was awful.

So, have no fear, I'm in Toronto now, and I'm on my way to my childhood home in about 4 hours. That is about a 9 hour drive from Toronto. Yay : /

Today is Wednesday here in North America. On Monday I plan to begin fiendishly creating new jewelry. I'll be making scores of new items to add to my shop in time for it's re-opening on January 27th. (Remember that my shop will re-open at www.daughterofluxury.etsy.com!)

Happy holidays everyone! See you soon!!! :D

PS. I went on a bead scouting mission here in Toronto, and I have to say, I'm highly satisfied with what I see. I can't wait to go on a buying spree here!!!
